I just uninstalled the jdk and did a fresh install from web to make sure that I installed the 64-bit version of jdk. The above link had an older 3.6 Eclipse which then failed to update itself due to Eclipse Bug #317785. Make sure that JDK you copy from is the same architecture as your Eclipse installation. Humans as batteries; how useful would they be?
